What is MOPS?

MOPS is a place for women to find support and friendship as we take on mothering together. MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and any mom with a child under the age of 6 is welcome to attend. At MOPS you will quickly learn you’re not alone. It is a place to find support, encouragement, advice and friendship in a relaxed atmosphere.

What happens at a typical MOPS Meeting?

You’ll start by dropping your children off with our amazing childcare staff. We have 2 main areas for the children to play during the meeting. There is the infant room, for children under the age of 1, that has lots of age appropriate toys, games and baby gear. Newborns are always permitted to stay with mom. For older children from ages 2 to 6 we have the gym, which features a bounce castle, a basket ball hoop, train table, rider toys and much more. We often find that the kids are just as excited to go to MOPS as mom is.

After your children are settled in we start our meeting off with a delicious brunch and some time to chat, eat sitting down and even complete an entire thought (rare luxuries for a mom with small children). Next we will have a speaker come and talk to the group on a variety of topics such as mothering, health, the home, fashion, gardening, etc. We then break into smaller groups where women can share their thoughts and get advice from other moms. To wrap our meeting up we generally do a creative activity.

We have a little joke that MOPS kind of sounds like a adult preschool. Snack time, learning time, show and tell and then craft time. On paper it kind of DOES sound like preschool for adults. But what makes MOPS so amazing is the relationships you develop as you discover that even though we are all different women we are all moms and we aren’t alone.
